Samsung SmartTag2 Adds New Lost Mode, Improved Compass View and Find App

If you have trouble keeping up with things, the new Galaxy SmartTag2 can make that easier, and with the new design, there's no need to buy 'holders' for them.

Samsung just dropped the SmartTag2 line, which could help with that problem. The design of the SmartTag has changed. They now have a meta-reinforced ring-shaped design to attach to bags and luggage. Of course, there are some other upgrades, too, including a new Lost Mode and upgrades to Compass View and other features.

The new Lost Mode allows users to attach their contact information to the tag so that when found by someone else, the finder can scan the tag with their smartphone—it works with any phone that has an NFC reader and a web browser—to see those details. For example, "This means a Galaxy SmartTag2 attached to a pet’s collar is now a convenient way to ensure the pet owner’s phone number is always there, in most places where the pet might wander," Samsung said in the release announcing the SmartTag2.

Other improvements include updates to the Compass View and SmartThings Find app. For people using Samsung smartphones, Compass View provides directional arrows and distances to help locate the SmartTag2. The SmartThings Find App allows you to add a shortcut to your screen and view the map in full-screen.
